Holidays...

with our school holidays drawing to a close, last night as a family we reflected on the highlights of the past two weeks.
they were:-

swimming....

hiking in the national park

well deserved ice-cream after such a huge hike,
with miss cheeky enjoying a biscuit treat and been her cheeky self..

discovering the seven dwarfs in a maze..

watching a stunning peacock..

little miss cheeky napping when she can..

We've had a fun, hectic few weeks and are now ready to face the last term of the school year!!

Wishing you all a lovely sunny happy weekend:)

Work in progress

Yeah, the final piece to the puzzle arrived first thing this morning for the "Christening Quilt".

As mentioned  in an earlier post, my client requested a fabric which had a design of a doberman or black dog on it. This wasn't an easy task, lots of "Spot the dog" or "Scottish" dogs or fabrics with images of various dogs. But to find one with only a black dog looking like a doberman plus limited to only sourcing within Australia was tricky.

I did find the perfect piece and my client loves it. It also really compliments the rest of the quilts colour scheme and style.

I'm normally a random layout designer, just grabbing at the fabric & piecing it together. For this quilt, I was more methodical about fabric placement and layout. I had to consider the embroidery blocks & also with large scale fabrics of cars & traffic control prints. So it took time & patience to put it together.

Top quilt now complete, client thinks it looks fabulous (which is wonderful) now onto quilting!:)

New Project

We arrived back yesterday from enjoying a week at the beach. It was so nice to relax with no schedules or time limits for our little family to recharge and reconnect as a family and prepare for the final part of the year.

On my return I had some lovely packages awaiting for my next little commissioned quilt.

This is an interesting project as my client was quiet detailed in what she was seeking plus a tight turn around as it is a "Christening Quilt" for her godson.

The brief was for all family names including the Christening child's names to be incorporated in the quilt; colour scheme - grey; dark blues & red; must be really boyish and a fabric with a doberman or black dog (more on this later) to be included.

So I out sourced and got the individual names embroidered onto 6" square blocks. Due to deadline all fabrics were sourced within Australia as I couldn't afford any delays with international shipment.

Just waiting on one last piece to the puzzle to arrive. It was a little hard to source but finally located....more on that when it arrives!

Hope you have a wonderful creative week ahead:)

New Project

This is a exciting new project. I'm custom making a throw for a double bed for my clients daughter who will be 14 by the end of October.
They are updating her room & want a modern twist with bright fresh colours. Favourite hues: orange; green & turquoise and she loves flowers & birds.
There are some fabulous fabrics around in really fresh spring colours of oranges & green.
Hope you've had creative week in your world!
Have a great weekend:)

Project complete

My latest custom made quilt called "FleaMarket" is now in the hands of it's owner, so I'm pleased I can post some photo's:-

This quilt was created for a very special little baby girl who was born a month ago. Her proud Aunty wanted a unqiue gift that baby Lauren will cherish for ever. My client loved "Happy Red Mushroom" quilt in red & white. As "Cheeky Charley designs" never creates any two quilts the same, so I tweaked it and incorporated some slightly girly fabrics ie: The FleaMarket designs and sweet little red fairies plus the backing fabric which I think
is so pretty.

The brief also was to create a larger than cot size quilt, so can be used for tummy time & floor play whilst Lauren is young but as she grows can be used as a large lap blanket
to snuggle up in!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

Weekending

My little escape wasn't quiet what I was expecting, but it was nice to get away from my house; pets & domestic chores.

I really did cherish some quality time with my two little ones to care for & enjoy the simple things without time frames & school runs to worry about:-

  • playing on the floor with them
  • leisurely bath with bubbles & toys
  • reading books
  • admiring our beautiful view & watching the sunset over the city skyline
  • encouraging my climber to reach the top of the space net, he was so proud & so was his little sis proudly watching on
  • even achieved some quiet sewing

The down side was daughter # 2, got very sick as of Friday and still is unwell now. I'm grateful for my little escape & feel a bit refreshed to face week ahead!

Wishing you all a happy week:)
